Sovereign AI

gobernanza

AI sovereignty · sovereign artificial intelligence

Sovereign AI is an organization's ability to decide where its data, models and AI agents live and who can audit them, without depending on a third party it does not control.

Sovereign AI is not a geography but a control capability: knowing where the data touching your models and agents is processed and stored, being able to audit what each one did, and being able to switch provider or infrastructure without losing that traceability. In an agent operation every tool call is a hop where data can leave your perimeter, so sovereignty is decided along the whole chain, not only where the model runs. It ties into GDPR and the auditability required to run agents in production.

How it differs from

Data residency
Residency fixes where data is stored; sovereignty adds control over models, agents and audit.

FAQ

Does sovereign AI mean hosting everything on my own server?
Not necessarily. It means being able to decide and prove where the data is and what each agent did. Self-hosting can help, but if the flow calls an external API the data leaves anyway.
