AIOps vs AI Operations

conceptos

AIOps · Agentic AIOps

Two meanings the market mixes up because they share a name. AIOps (and its extension, Agentic AIOps) is operating IT infrastructure with AI: monitoring, detecting and autonomously resolving systems incidents. AI Operations is operating the business's AI function: orchestrating, supervising, evaluating, governing and scaling the agents and AI that do business work.

AIOps comes from IT observability and management: it applies machine learning to logs, metrics and alerts to cut noise and, in its agentic version, act on infrastructure without human intervention. AI Operations starts from a different question: once you deploy AI to do work (handle customers, process documents, move data), who orchestrates it, supervises it, measures its quality, controls its cost and responds when it fails? Confusing the two leads to buying an IT monitoring tool when what you need is to operate a business AI capability, or vice versa.
