AgenticOps
Conceptoagentic operations
AgenticOps is a term popularized by Cisco for operations in which AI agents reason and act at machine speed, a step beyond classic AIOps that stops at alerts and recommendations. The idea: the agent does not just flag the problem, it resolves it within set limits.
AgenticOps is built explicitly on top of DevOps, MLOps and AIOps and describes an operating model where some routine decisions are made by a supervised autonomous agent. It is one of four labels fighting to name the operations of AI (alongside AgentOps, AIOps and 'AI Operations') and none has won. Our take at Implementa: the label matters less than the underlying question, what an agent may decide and execute on its own in your operation, and with what safety net.
How it differs from
- AIOps
- Classic AIOps observes and recommends; AgenticOps acts. The difference is autonomy to execute.
Examples
- An agent that detects a network incident, diagnoses the cause and applies the fix within a policy is AgenticOps.
FAQ
- Are AgenticOps and AgentOps the same?
- They overlap and are often used interchangeably. In practice both name the operations of autonomous agents; the word choice depends more on the vendor (Cisco vs Red Hat/IBM) than on a clean technical difference.
