Agent gateway

arquitectura

gateway for agents

An agent gateway is the control point through which an agent's calls to tools, data and other agents pass, where identity, permissions, limits and logging are enforced.

Implementa formulation. The gateway sits between the agent and the systems it uses and concentrates controls that should not live inside each agent: authenticating the agent's identity, access policies, spend or rate limits and logging every action for audit. Google presented a component named "Agent Gateway" in its persistent Gemini agent; the concept is broader and can be implemented with different products.

How it differs from

AI gateway
An AI gateway mainly mediates calls to models; an agent gateway mediates the agent's actions on tools and data.
Agent control plane
The control plane is the full governance layer; the gateway is one place where it is enforced.

Examples

  • Every agent call to the CRM and email goes through a gateway that logs the action and cuts access when the project budget is exceeded.

FAQ

Is it a standard?
No. It is an architecture pattern; each vendor implements it differently.
