Agentic commerce
comercioagent-led commerce
Agentic commerce is buying and selling in which AI agents search, compare, or even decide and pay on behalf of a person or a company.
Implementa formulation. It changes who arrives at the shop: besides people, agents arrive reading product, price and availability data. A FHNW survey of 473 online-shop operators (mostly Swiss) finds 10% already treat it as a revenue channel, 75% expect agents to handle product search, 32% purchase decisions and 22% the entire purchase; nearly three quarters have no strategy. The sample is concentrated in Switzerland.
How it differs from
- Classic e-commerce
- In classic e-commerce a person browses and buys; in agentic commerce an agent may decide.
- Support chatbot
- A chatbot answers the shop customer; a buying agent acts for the customer toward the shop.
Examples
- An assistant that compares prices across three shops and proposes the purchase to its user.
- A corporate buying agent that restocks office supplies within an approved limit.
FAQ
- What should a shop prepare?
- Reliable structured product, price and stock data, and rules on what a buying agent may decide.
