Agent runtime security
seguridadruntime security for agents
Agent runtime security is the set of controls that observe and limit what an agent does while it operates: which code and resources it uses, which actions it attempts and whether it respects guardrails.
Implementa formulation. It complements pre-deployment controls (skill review, permissions, testing) with monitoring during execution: behavior visibility, real-time guardrails, detection of out-of-policy actions and security of the agent supply chain. It is a recent product category: for example, Rein Security raised $25M in October 2026 to protect agents at runtime.
How it differs from
- Execution sandbox
- A sandbox isolates the environment where the agent runs; runtime security watches and limits its behavior, with or without a sandbox.
Examples
- A sensor alongside the agent detects an attempt to reach a resource outside its policy and blocks the action.
FAQ
- Does it replace pre-deployment review?
- No. It is an extra layer: pre-deployment review reduces known risks, runtime monitoring catches what appears in operation.
